2020 Summit Promo
Online Special
With the cancelation of the face-to-face version of The Summit, we wanted to provide an online alternative. Like much of church ministry these days, the mission moves forward while the method of bringing the gospel has had to adapt.
Our speakers, Matt & Angela Wingert, along with our band leader, Joël Held and his sons, joined us for a special video version of The Summit. Groups can use this together or share the video for use in the home. In either format, a good point for discussion might be how we can "Shine" the light of Christ in our neighborhoods during this unique time.
We hope that this helps offer some encouragement to the pre-teens in your church or school and that we will see many of them next year when The Summit returns.
Shine
“In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and
praise your Father in heaven.”
Matthew 5:16
“This Little Light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine!” This is one of the first songs that we teach our children, yet as children get older the world will try to blow out that light with self doubt, guilt and worldly struggles. But, Jesus continues to strengthen us and shine through us! Each child in your program has been given gifts that God will use to point people to Him as long as they aren’t afraid to use them. We hope that this day will encourage all who attend The Summit to not be afraid to use their gifts, because when we Shine for Jesus we are in His will.
The Summit will be filled with active learning, fun, meaningful games and activities, singing, as well as service opportunities for everyone to engage in. We ask that you pray over this event and bring as many kids as you can! This event is one you will not want to miss!
Speaker
Matt & Angela Wingert
Matt and Angela Wingert are the speakers for The Summit 2020! They want you to know that they are two very different people. Although they share the same last name, and are happily married with two kids, they couldn’t be more different from each other. One is loud, one is quiet. One is organized, one is messy. One is beautiful, the other one has a beard. You will quickly find out who is who as they shine some light on God’s word this year at the Summit. Matt and Angela both teach at Lutheran High in Orange, and have been in ministry a combined 12 years. They are passionate about their family, sharing God’s love, and being outdoors. They look forward to this year’s theme as we dig into God’s word, and Shine Bright!

FAQ's
Who can attend?
The Summit is designed for 4th through 6th graders. Work with the existing organization of your church ministry to determine who should go. If you already group 4th & 5th together, or 5th & 6th together, or even 4th, 5th & 6th together, work within whichever structure you already have.
What if you don’t already have a group for this age?
What a great opportunity to start one! If you have a school associated with your church you can advertise in the 4th, 5th, and 6th grade classrooms. Bring your pastor, teacher from the school, parents, or young adults who have a passion for this age group and desire to see The Summit as a catalyst to being a group for this age.
What if a member of our group has special medical needs?
If anyone in your group has special medical needs, we ask that you advise us in your registration materials, or contact one of the committee members prior to the gathering so we can make proper arrangements.
When should we arrive?
Check-in opens at 9:00 am. There will be ice-breaker activities for groups to connect with each other until worship begins at 9:30 am. Groups should make sure that they have arrived by 9:15 am to ensure that they are checked in and have received their shirts and other materials for the day.
Where should we go on campus when we arrive?
The Summit will primarily be held in the gymnasium. Group check-in will be done outside of the gym as you come from the parking lot.
What food is provided?
Lunch and snacks will be provided. We will be having pizza for lunch and have a variety of snacks. Coffee will be available in the morning for adults upon arrival. If you would like to bring snacks for your group you are more than welcome to do so.
What forms of payment are accepted?
When you register online you will have the option to pay by credit card or later by check. Please mail your church check made payable to Pacific Southwest District to: Pacific Southwest District, Attn: Dave Rueter – The Summit, 1540 Concordia East, Irvine, CA 92612
